What this man is doing beats the heck out of throwing a rock at a bank. Here’s why: 1. So many now view us as the ‘other’, in no small part because of news reports centered on violence. (I know, I know..the police start much of it). But one of the many things this movement needs to do to reclaim a spot on center stage is to emphasize the fundamental beneficence of our mission. A rock thrown through a bank window can’t do that. A group of people sitting in at a bank or picketing outside can talk to others and hopefully even persuade them to join us. And what harm ever came from a gesture such as this one in the picture?
Who gives a shit about the media’s representation of OWS? We are protesting corruption, wealth inequality, unemployment, etc., we are not protesting to make headlines.
Regardless whether the protests are violent or not, the MSM will discredit the movement anyway they can. Take the MSM’s representation of yesterday’s May Day protests for example.
The gap between the rich and poor is larger than ever recorded, racism/racial inequality is still a huge problem that the government fails to even recognize, students own over a trillion dollars in debt (more than credit card debt) and you are worried about a few people breaking windows of a company (Nike) that uses child labor and exploits foreign workers so they can make the largest profit possible.
If a person wants to join a black bloc and throw rocks at an extremely corrupted corporation, more power to them.
I’m all for civilized civil disobedience. But there comes a time when you are told No and you have to stand your ground because the answer is Yes.
The MSM are tools. Look who owns them, the same peeps/companies we protest against. They will NEVER portray Occupy accurately. We must depend on ourselves for that.
Now, I am NOT advocating violence or destruction of property. But if some hardcore peeps want to smash out some bank’s windows, so what. Go after the individuals not the movement.
If the cops attack people while they are peacefully protesting (I’m talking to you NYPD) I say defend yourself and make sure someone gets the Cops throwing the first punch on video.
As far as the pic above, nothing but WIN!

Mitt Romney made $42.5 million dollars between 2010-2011. Not bad for a guy who is jobless. But he only paid 13.9% in taxes in 2010. That is less than the average Middle Class American, certainly less than me. I can think of no better personification of the 1%.
People like Mitt are why we Occupy!
“Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney released tax records on Tuesday indicating he will pay $6.2 million in taxes on a total of $42.5 million in income over the years 2010 and 2011.
Bowing to increasing political pressure to provide more detail about his vast wealth, the former private equity executive released tax returns indicating he and his wife, Ann, paid an effective tax rate of 13.9 percent in 2010. They expect to pay a 15.4 percent rate when they file their returns for 2011.
Romney’s tax rate is below that of most wage-earning Americans because most of his income, as outlined in more than 500 pages of tax documents, flows from capital gains on investments.
Under the U.S. tax code, capital gains are taxed at 15 percent, compared with a top tax rate of 35 percent for wage earners.”
The Rich and the Rest of us.
Jay-Z & Beyonce’s baby was born literally in a lap of Luxury
Taken from an article on yahoo’s omg blog:
“… the new mom seemed to forget that she wasn’t the only one at the hospital with a bundle of joy to gush over. Among other parents irked at how they were treated, a Brooklyn man named Neil Coulon is still reeling from his run-ins with Beyonce and Jay-Z’s muscle men while attempting to check on his premature twins inside Lenox Hill’s neonatal intensive care unit.”
“Really? Keeping a Dad from the NICU to check on his premature twins?
Hey Jay-Z, I got 99 problems but being a prick ain’t one.” - Operative X from ihatepeacocks.com
We must stop protecting the richest 1% and start fighting for the 99% or we will no longer have a Middle Class. We will have the 1% and their Servant Class.
To put this article in perspective:
“He makes $11 an hour as a line cook. At that rate, it would take four hours of work to afford one of the cowboy ribeyes he cooks.”
The Occupy movement is making its presence felt in Iowa ahead of the GOP Iowa Caucus
If the villains are going to gather in Iowa, we need to send in the real super heroes: OCCUPY
